5 Things to Consider Prior to Liposculpture

We thank our patient Gabrielle, grandmother of 7, who has allowed us to share the above.  The above depicts confidence in herself whilst embracing her life to its fullest extent.  She is a great rolemodel to everyone around her.  Sometimes, to achieve a certain body shape it may not be solely from diet and exercise as it may be attained from other cosmetic treatments such as breast implants, breast lift, tummy tuck surgery, buttock lifting and liposculpture.

What are the 5 things important prior to liposculpture?  Let's understand the fundamentals.

  • It may not work!  Yes, something you do not want to hear.  Whether you like it or not, sometimes the news is disappointing.  Not everyone is suited for this.  You need to be medically assessed beforehand.  Many patients, whether young or elderly, may have undiagnosed medical problems that they did not even realise they had.  Or if you had pre-existing issues, these may need to be re-investigated for the interests of your safety.  Therefore, if an individual is medically unfit, this will exclude you from cosmetic surgery.  You must be assessed thoroughly by your surgeon and not by anyone else during the consultation process.  Dr Nara had a meeting with Dr Satish Kumar the director of the general practice at Cooee on the north west coast of Tasmania this week to discuss the importance of looking after your health through medical optimisation, having realistic expectations, and especially being aware of any medical issues that requires early medical intervention to prevent the severity of illness.  Principles of medicine are important particularly to maximise the results of cosmetic medicine and surgery!  If you are around the vicinity and would like to optimise your medical wellbeing feel free to drop in at Dr Kumar's clinic by clicking here to book your appointment.

  • Diet and exercise.  This is something we all know too well about.  We also hear about this dailly.  But, there is great truth in this.  Did you know if you exercise well, it improves your heart function, blood sugar levels, sleep pattern, weight control, bone density, and mental status?  These are just a few benefits to exercising.  The diet component is even more important than exercise.  If you cannot control what you eat prior to liposculpture it is best to delay your surgery to a date where you feel you are ready.  You must have a stable diet and exercise regime about 6 months before liposculpture.  If this is not done, you will be left with disappointment because any surgery is not a lifetime fix since we are not objects.  We change in time because we are human beings.  One powerful tip, is to start drinking an extra glass of water daily and watch the difference in your life!  Dr Nara encourages all his patients to have a good healthy lifestyle.  Click here to understand more.

  • Expectations.  Your expectations cannot be met by just meeting your surgeon for 10 minutes.  You must spend time with the surgeon that is going to do your surgery so that you both understand clearly what your expectations will be.  This allows you to understand the training your surgeon had, their respective skill and experience in liposculpture.  At RevAesthetic, Dr Nara provides an exclusive comprehensive cosmetic consult to understand you better and listen to your concerns.  Your appointment will be greater than 45 minutes.  In addition, there is a second complimentary consult prior to your surgery.

  • Dual effect.  Basically, it can be fun! Prior to surgery, if you have a partner, family member, or friend, it is helpful to try and get them involved!  How so?  They too can be invited to improve their diet, exercise and lifestyle.  This has to be done ethically and carefully so as not to force your partner into extremes of diet and exercise. This may stir them away from healthy living.  You can suggest some ideas and special tips about how to generate a dual workforce with a gentle approach to improve your lifestyles simultaneously.  Did you know thay Dr Nara has many patients who  have partners that join in to improve their lifestyle?  Did you also know, that when this happens, it will improve your chances of maintaining your weight and healthy habits.  One easy way to start is to increase the intake of green leafy healthy yummy vegetables in your diet! For more information and especially tips on how to get your partner or friend involved with healthy lifestyle strategies (synching schedules, planning groceries, making suggestions, etc) simply click here.

  • Ask questions! Dr Nara wants all his patients to ask good questions prior to any cosmetic treatment especially liposculpture.  Most patients that come to see us have an idea as to what they want to achieve.  Some patients may decide to have non-surgical treatments for body sculpting.  This is possible, however, significant and more satisfying results are best achieve through tailored liposculpture.  Our amazing patients sometimes, need to be guided as to what options would best suit them which then allows them to ask even more questions.  This is why the cosmetic consultation process cannot be ignored.
