A labiaplasty consultation with Dr Nara in Melbourne is generally an hour. The structure is the same at the Chadstone rooms as it is at our other clinics: a private examination room, a chaperone present, the conversation paced by you. Dr Nara will examine the anatomy, explain the technique options — the selective anatomic preservation (SAP) approach and the simpler trim approach — and discuss which may suit your circumstances. He will also talk about the option of doing nothing as a real option.
Most Victorian patients consult at Chadstone, which sits inside the shopping centre precinct with on-site parking throughout the complex. The waiting area is quiet, the consultation rooms are separate from the public footfall, and the appointment time is yours. A second consultation is commonly arranged before any commitment to a procedure, and many patients bring a partner, sister or friend to the second visit.
A formal written cooling-off period applies between consultation and any cosmetic procedure, in line with Medical Board of Australia guidelines. The cooling-off period is the time between the conversation and the decision; it is not a sales mechanism. A second medical opinion is encouraged at any stage.

For patients closer to the bayside and south-east — Chelsea, Chelsea Heights, Carrum, Patterson Lakes, Bonbeach, Edithvale, Aspendale, Mordialloc, Mentone, Cheltenham, Parkdale, Seaford, Frankston and the wider Mornington Peninsula — the alternate Chelsea Heights consult location is sometimes a shorter trip. Dates there are confirmed at booking; the procedure range is the same as at Chadstone.
Procedures themselves are performed at accredited Australian hospital facilities. The hospital varies depending on procedure scheduling and your individual circumstances; Dr Nara will discuss this with you at consultation.

Selective anatomic preservation
The selective anatomic preservation (SAP) technique is the approach generally used. SAP preserves the natural anatomical landmarks of the labia minora while reducing the soft-tissue volume that is the patient's concern. The aim is a result that fits the patient's anatomy rather than a generic appearance. Other techniques — including the simpler trim approach — may be more appropriate in some cases, depending on individual anatomy.
