Penile Augmentation

Penile augmentation may be done to address certain volumetric considerations you have thought about — but it is a technical procedure that needs to be matched to your goals and to an honest assessment of your suitability. A confidential face-to-face consultation with Dr Nara is the essential first step.

About the procedure

A technical, considered conversation

Penile augmentation is a non-surgical procedure to alter the shape or dimensions of the shaft of the penis or the crown (head). The most commonly requested form involves increasing the girth of the shaft, generally using hyaluronic acid filler or fat graft delivered with specialised technique to targeted points.

Each patient has varying reasons to consider altering the appearance of their genitalia. While the procedure may be something a patient looks forward to, it is first important to ensure that there are no medical conditions that may preclude you from the procedure. That assessment happens at consultation — not online — and is the reason a face-to-face appointment with Dr Nara comes before any decision.

A 100% augmentation of the available area is never achieved. This is deliberate, to ensure the function of the urethral passage, sensation, and the blood supply to the soft tissues of the penis are not compromised. Realistic dimensions, the realistic range of outcomes, and the full risks are walked through at consultation. Where the procedure is appropriate, Dr Nara performs it with a written cooling-off period and structured aftercare, in line with Medical Board of Australia guidelines.

Two distinct procedures

Augmentation versus lengthening

Patients sometimes use these words interchangeably. They are not the same. The technique, the setting, the recovery and the risk profile are all different. Knowing which procedure you are thinking about is the starting point of the consultation.

Penile augmentation

Non-surgical · girth and shape

  • What it addressesGirth of the shaft, sometimes the shape or crown — using hyaluronic acid filler or fat graft.
  • SettingNon-surgical, performed in an accredited clinic.
  • AnaesthesiaLocal with topical analgesia; no general anaesthesia required.
  • Typical recoveryLight walking within days. Sexual activity refrained from for around two weeks. Most patients take 2–5 days off work.
  • What it does not doIt does not lengthen the penis. A 100% augmentation of the area is never achieved.

Penile lengthening

Surgical · apparent length

  • What it addressesThe apparent length of the penis — for example via release of the suspensory penile ligament (a phalloplasty technique).
  • SettingAn invasive surgical operation performed in an accredited and licensed facility.
  • AnaesthesiaGeneral anaesthesia, with a consultant anaesthetist.
  • Typical recoveryLonger than non-surgical augmentation; specific to the technique used. Discussed line by line at consultation.
  • What it does not doIt does not increase girth. In selected patients a combination of both procedures may be considered.

Read the full surgical risks on our risks of surgery page. Dr Nara walks through which procedure — or combination, in selected cases — is appropriate for you at consultation.

Who is not suitable

An honest list of reasons we will say no

Not all patients are suitable for penile augmentation. Saying no is part of safe practice — and being told no, after a careful assessment, is often the right outcome. The list below is not exhaustive; other factors may apply to your individual situation.

  1. 01

    Coerced into the procedure

If a partner, a family member, or anyone else is the reason you are sitting in front of us, we will not proceed. The decision must come from you.

  2. 02

Not enough time taken to understand it

This is an elective procedure with permanent considerations. If you have not had time to read the consent paperwork, ask questions, and reflect, we slow down — we do not speed up.

  3. 03

    Body dysmorphic disorder

Where there are clinical signs of body dysmorphic disorder, the appropriate first step is psychological assessment — not a cosmetic procedure. We are happy to refer.

  4. 04

Active infection anywhere in the body

Any active infection — local or systemic — has to be resolved before consideration of an elective procedure.

  5. 05

    Active blood thinners

Anticoagulant medication significantly raises the risk of bruising, haematoma and complications. Any pause or change must be arranged with your treating doctor — never by us alone.

  6. 06

    Previous surgery to the genitalia

Some prior surgery alters the tissues in ways that make a further procedure inadvisable. Assessment is individual and honest.

  7. 07

    Immunocompromised state

Where the immune system is suppressed — by medication, illness or other reasons — the infection and healing risks of an elective procedure are not acceptable.

  8. 08

    Unhealthy lifestyle habits

Active smoking is the most common example. Smoking meaningfully impairs healing, raises complication rates, and is incompatible with safe elective practice. We do not proceed while patients are still smoking.

What recovery looks like

In honest terms

After-care is individualised — there is only one you, and the variations from person to person (genetic makeup, medications, prior injury, current physical function) are significant. These are the general ranges, not promises.

  1. 01

    Light walking · within days

Most patients return to light walking within days of treatment.

  2. 02

Sexual activity · refrain for two weeks

Sexual activity should be refrained from for around two weeks, depending on the technique used and your individual recovery.

  3. 03

Time off work · 2 to 5 days

Depending on the type of penile augmentation, most patients take between two and five days off work. Patients in physical work generally take longer.

  4. 04

    Common side effects to expect

Discomfort, bruising, numbness or altered sensation, lumps and bumps, and some asymmetry (one side being different to the other) are all part of the normal range. Active communication with us during recovery is one of the factors that reduces the risk of these progressing to complications.

Patient questions

Confidential conversations that come up at consultation

These are questions Dr Nara is most often asked about penile augmentation. They are not a substitute for an individual assessment — they are a starting point for one. All consultations are confidential.

  • 01 Is this a penile implant for erectile dysfunction (ED)?
No. RevAesthetic performs cosmetic penile augmentation only — this is a different procedure from penile prosthesis implants used to treat erectile dysfunction. Penile implants for ED are a urological procedure performed by urologists. If you are seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction, please consult a urologist or your GP for a referral. Cosmetic penile augmentation at RevAesthetic is performed by Dr Kishen Nara (MBBS, FACCSM(Surg), AHPRA MED0001201549) and focuses on aesthetic concerns about appearance or girth for men who are satisfied with erectile function.
  • 02 Who is not suitable for penile augmentation?
The list is not exhaustive, but factors that may preclude you from having penile augmentation include being coerced into the procedure, not taking enough time to understand it, body dysmorphic disorder, active infection anywhere in the body, being on active blood thinners, previous surgery to the genitalia that may make you unsuitable, an immunocompromised state, or unhealthy lifestyle habits (such as active smoking). Suitability is assessed individually and honestly at consultation.
  • 03 What does penile lengthening involve?
Penile lengthening is a separate surgical operation that involves the structural elongation of the penis — for example by release of the suspensory penile ligament. This is different to penile augmentation (which alters girth or shape using non-surgical techniques). Penile lengthening, being an invasive surgical operation, is performed under general anaesthesia in an accredited and licensed facility. The full risks are on our risks of surgery page.
  • 04 What if I have discomfort after the procedure?
Whenever any of our patients at RevAesthetic develop concerns, you must contact our support team or Dr Nara directly so we can attend to you. It is not uncommon to have some degree of discomfort after penile augmentation. Each patient responds differently and active communication during recovery is one of the factors that reduces the risk of complications.
  • 05 What percentage of the shaft is increased?
Penile augmentation may vary depending on your goals, pre-existing dimensions and the technique used. We focus on risk minimisation and realistic expectations. A 100% area augmentation is never achieved — this is to ensure the function of the urethral passage, sensation and the blood supply to the soft tissues of the penis are not compromised. Realistic dimensions are discussed at consultation.
  • 06 What are the common side effects of non-surgical penile augmentation?
After non-surgical penile augmentation, patients may experience the following — but not limited to — discomfort, bruising, numbness or altered sensation, lumps and bumps, and asymmetry (one side being different to the other). All patients have varying degrees of symptoms following treatment, since everyone has unique differences in genetic composition, pre-existing medical conditions, and lifestyle. The full list of risks is on our risks of surgery page.
  • 07 When may I resume physical activities?
Each patient who has penile augmentation receives individualised after-care instructions. Most patients may return to light walking within days. Sexual activity should be refrained from for around 2 weeks. Time off work depends on the type of augmentation — generally 2 to 5 days. These are individual ranges, not promises.
  • 08 How is the procedure performed?
Non-surgical penile augmentation is generally performed using injectable techniques — hyaluronic acid filler or fat graft — to alter girth or shape. The injection is delivered with specialised technique to targeted points along the shaft. There are different goals and styles that can be discussed. The specific protocol Dr Nara chooses is matched to your anatomy and goals, and is explained line by line at consultation. You are welcome to ask Dr Nara about the prince modulation technique at the time of your consultation.
  • 09 What about cost?
Cost is a common question. Before considering cost, it is worth asking — what is the practitioner's formal training in cosmetic procedures? Are they prepared to take time to discuss the consent process, the risks, the possibility of revision, and after-care? A formal quote is only provided after your individual consultation. The personalised quote is provided by Cate, the practice manager, after assessment. Dr Nara is a cosmetic doctor — private health insurance and Medicare rebates do not apply.
  • 10 What happens at consultation?
A confidential face-to-face consultation with Dr Nara, with a chaperone present. We discuss your goals, anatomy, medical history, suitability, technique options, the realistic range of outcomes and the full risks. You leave with written information — never a same-day decision. A specialist GP referral and a psychological assessment are part of the consultation per Medical Board of Australia guidelines.
  • 11 How long is the cooling-off period?
A formal cooling-off period applies between consultation and any procedure, in line with Medical Board of Australia guidelines for cosmetic surgery. The intent is the opposite of pressure — time to read the written consent paperwork, talk to your GP, ask follow-up questions, and decide whether to proceed.

Our process

From first conversation to follow-up

Every penile augmentation patient moves through the same four steps, in the same order. The procedure only happens once steps one and two are done.

  1. 01

    Consultation

A face-to-face or Zoom assessment with Dr Nara, with a chaperone present. We discuss anatomy, medical history, technique options, the realistic range of outcomes, and the full risks. You leave with written information — never a same-day decision.

  2. 02

    Reflection

A formal cooling-off period under Medical Board of Australia guidelines. Time to reread the consent paperwork, talk to your GP, ask follow-up questions, and decide whether to proceed.

  3. 03

    Procedure

Non-surgical penile augmentation is performed by Dr Nara using specialised injectable technique (hyaluronic acid filler or fat graft) at our accredited clinics. Penile lengthening — a separate surgical procedure — is performed under general anaesthesia in an accredited and licensed facility. Technique is tailored to your individual anatomy and goals.

  4. 04

    Follow-up

Structured reviews through the first weeks and months. Most patients return to non-physical work around one week and to higher-impact activity around six weeks, depending on healing — these are individual ranges, not promises.
